Less than One Week -- Please Act!

As you may know, the draft MA Accountability and Assistance plan includes an arts education indicator, which is a major step forward in supporting the arts in MA public schools.

There are two easy steps you can take to make a difference for arts education in Massachusetts schools. Your help now can bring it over the goal line!

First, you can urge your state Representative and Senator to sign onto a "Dear Colleague Letter" led by State Senators Sonia Chang-Díaz of Boston, Eric Lesser of Longmeadow, and Adam Hinds of Pittsfield, to keep arts education in the new state plan.

Email your state legislators encouraging them to sign onto the Arts Education letter from Senators Chang-Diaz, Lesser, and Hinds.

Second, if you haven't already done so, DESE is welcoming public comments until March 9 before the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education votes to approve the plan. Join us in sending a letter of support to Commissioner of Education Mitchell Chester for the arts indicator.

Taking 10 minutes for these two steps will make a huge difference. Please let your voice be heard!
