The Rivers School Conservatory’s Youth Wind Ensemble is seeking a new Music Director/Conductor. The conductor works closely with the Assistant Conductor and is also supported by an Ensemble Manager. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience conducting high school wind ensembles and band and be familiar with both the standard wind ensemble repertoire and new compositions and arrangements. The Youth Wind Ensemble is looking for a conductor with a reputation for musical excellence and a distinguished record of leadership in music education. The successful candidate will be an accomplished musician, motivational leader, and have an entrepreneurial spirit. He/she will embody the school’s motto of “inspiring musical excellence.” The wind ensemble is completing its third season under the direction of its founding conductor, David Martins and Assistant Conductor, Andy Chau. The group performs three concerts annually, including a shared program in Jordan Hall in February as well as concerts at Regis College and Babson College in November and May, respectively. Working closely with the Assistant Conductor, responsibilities include: planning and rehearsing three programs of appropriate literature, screening auditions, and creating an artistic vision for the ensemble and growth of the program. Two or three finalists will be chosen to rehearse/conduct a concert cycle during the 2017-2018 academic year.
