Lynn Public Schools invites applications for Elementary General Music Teachers to join a vibrant team of music educators. Elementary General Music Teachers are responsible for teaching K-5 classroom music, some are assigned to teach Pre-K students, and to develop a 4th-5th grade chorus. The successful candidate will be a thoughtful music educator, who will design sequential, well-scaffolded learning experiences grounded in Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions in music. Must have good functional understandings of and facility with Gordon, Kodaly, Orff, Feierabend, and/or Dalcroze methodologies. Must have abilities to work with elementary chorus, teach healthy singing techniques to children, knowledge of children’s chorus repertoire, and ability to accompany children’s chorus on piano. We are seeking teachers with a minimum of a bachelor of music education degree, certified All-Level Music in Massachusetts or eligible to be certified by the time school starts. Experience is preferred and all qualified candidates will be considered. The successful candidate will have a collaborative spirit, who is excited about working successfully in a large, urban district, can manage a classroom of diverse learners, has a strong commitment to educating students through music, and can work collaboratively with multiple Principals, music teachers, students and parents, and the Director.
