Lynn Public Schools has 2 openings for All City Band instrumental teachers for the 2017-2018 school year. All City Band Teachers teach instrumental music to elementary, middle school, and high school students. There is also a stipend for conducting All City ensembles, including an Elementary All City Band, a Middle School Band, a High School All City Marching Band (fall), and a High School All City Concert Band (spring). Starting with a marching band summer camp and continuing through the Fall, the All City Band Directors are responsible for the Marching Band for an additional stipend (one head director, one drill instructor), and the Friday night home game half-time shows. The successful candidate will be someone who can write and teach drills, has a good working knowledge of band pedagogy, rehearsal techniques, wind and percussion instruments, and can teach marching routines and maneuvers. We are looking for someone who has a strong personality to match the nature of this position, someone who has excellent organizational and communication skills, has excellent interpersonal relationship-building skills, willing to work extensive hours as required per stipended portions of these positions, and has a passion and commitment for building and improving the program. Teaching and marching experience is preferred, although all candidates who are qualified will be considered. Must have a bachelor or master of music performance or music education degree; must be certified to teach in Massachusetts or eligible to obtain certification; primary instrument must be a wind or percussion instrument. The successful will be a strong collaborator, willing to commit time needed for quality music education, and who is excited about working in a large, urban district.
