POSITION: Powers Music School seeks an experienced and energetic Suzuki violin instructor to teach on Monday afternoons from November 2017 through February 2018 as a substitute for a faculty member who will be on leave. The Suzuki department currently consists of five instructors (violin, guitar, cello, and viola) who teach private lessons and group classes to around 80 students. DUTIES: Teach private lessons on Mondays between 2:45 - 7:00 pm to students in Book 5 and below. QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Performance or Pedagogy or equivalent work experience. At a minimum, completed Suzuki training through Book 5. More training is preferred. Documented successful teaching experience of at least 3-5 years. Effective communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues. EMPLOYMENT DURATION: Anticipated November 6, 2017 through February 15, 2018. LOCATION: A passionate community committed to playing, learning, and growing together, Powers Music School is located in Belmont, MA. Powers welcomes over 900 students weekly, offering private music lessons in nearly 30 instruments, early childhood and group classes, jazz and rock bands, Suzuki instruction, orchestra, music theory, and composition.
