Beaver Country Day School seeks an experienced, student-centered music instructor to teach three group beginner/intermediate brass (trumpet, trombone, tuba) classes weekly (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 10:55-11:40) for the 2018-2019 school year. This position is part of a team including choral, percussion, woodwind and string teachers who collaborate to develop a shared curriculum, pedagogy, and culture for the instrumental music program as well as produce concerts together. Competitive candidates should demonstrate expertise in more than one brass instrument, excellent musicianship and artistry as a performer and teacher, knowledge of brass repertoire, curriculum and pedagogy, and experience teaching young, beginner students in a group setting. Strong classroom management skills, ability to connect with the middle school students, and the ability to differentiate instruction based on the skill level and learning styles of the students is essential to this role.
