Description

First Parish in Cohasset Unitarian Universalist in Cohasset, Massachusetts, seeks a part-time (17 hours per week, 42 weeks per year) Music Director/Organist to coordinate and direct all music for Sunday worship services and any special services during the church year (September through mid June). The Music Director must be able to respect the principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (which can be found at https://www.uua.org/beliefs/what-we-believe/principles); hold a degree in music related or specific to church/sacred music; be open to conducting and/or performing music of both sacred and secular genres; be proficient on organ and piano; and have previous experience in choral conducting. Duties include: serving as principal organist/pianist at all worship services, including weddings, dedications and memorial services; rehearsing and directing the adult choir; rehearsing weekly and directing monthly performances of a children’s choir; hiring and contracting guest musicians for special services; meeting regularly with the Minister and Music and Worship Committee; overseeing the care and maintenance of the Parish instruments (including 1892 George Hutchings Opus 274 organ, Steinway grand piano, hand bell set, and console piano); maintaining and updating the music library; and generally coordinating all music for any services held by or within First Parish in Cohasset.
