Commitment: Monday thru Friday, 7:45-9:30AM + concerts Fall 2018: September 10th – December 20th (no classes Nov. 21-23) Spring 2019: January 7th – June 14th (no classes Feb. 18-22 and Apr. 15-19) The Mozart Music and Movement Director will team-teach two groups of students in kindergarten and first grade. Each group will receive general music instruction twice per week on alternate days. Both groups come together on Fridays with all Mozart faculty assisting. The Music and Movement Director will follow the JQOP Curriculum and work in collaboration with Support Teaching Artists to select songs/dances, plan daily lessons, prepare for concerts, and ensure that students learn appropriate strings technique, music notation, and orchestra culture. Additionally, as JQOP equally supports social development and musical growth, the Music and Movement Director will ensure that social-emotional skills are developed within the fabric of lessons, including, but not limited to, leadership, kindness, self-control, and perseverance. The Music and Movement Director will work with all JQOP staff and teachers to ensure the highest quality learning experience for all students. Qualifications: ·Experience teaching group music classes & working with young students (ages 5-8) ·Strong knowledge of general music pedagogy, repertoire, techniques and curriculum ·Strong teaching and classroom management skills, education background/degree preferred ·Commitment to El Sistema’s philosophy of social change through music instruction ·Passion for teaching and willingness to go above-and-beyond to ensure success for all students ·Strong interpersonal, professional, and communication skills If interested, send a cover letter and résumé to firstname.lastname@example.org.
