Job Description: Provide music instruction to students (grades 2-12) enrolled in the Prodigy Program, the after school music lesson program of the Westwood Public Schools. Responsibilities: • Teach weekly music lessons in private or semi-private formats • Establish and maintain a schedule of lessons • Maintain accurate records of lessons taken by each student • Provide evaluations of student progress two times a year • Maintain communication with Prodigy Program Coordinator regarding student status and all issues related to their participation in the program Qualifications: • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in music performance and/or music education • Prior teaching experience • Jazz / Improvisation experience preferred. • Possess sufficient skills to perform and demonstrate performance techniques on at least one musical instrument or voice • Have knowledge of pedagogical methods, techniques and processes to provide a sequential and consistent program of instruction for students • Possess knowledge of appropriate literature, repertoire and teaching materials to support the teaching of music instruments or voice • Possess sufficient judgment to assess student progress objectively and tactfully • Possess appropriate communication skills to relate to students and parents positively and effectively Schedule: Prodigy Tutors establish their own schedules directly with students and parents.
