The Boston Public Schools Visual and Performing Arts Department is seeking a full-time Program Director for the Performing Arts to join a fast-paced, problem-solving, and asset-based thinking team! Over the last decade, the BPS Arts Department has grown from 160 full-time certified arts educators to nearly 300. The administrative team includes the Executive Director for the Arts, Program Director for the Performing Arts, Visual & Media Arts Content Specialist, Theatre Content Specialist, and Instrument Repair Technician. The music educators in BPS are a strong family with many partnerships with our local colleges and non-profit organizations. Our curriculum work this school year has included implementing Gamelan, Samba and Taiko instruments at the elementary level, creating music composition units on Noteflight and Soundtrap, partnering with the Boston Children's Chorus to collect folk songs from our community, and implementing two new elementary Roland piano labs. Next year we will be expanding our portfolio with a middle and high school pilot of a hip-hop curriculum utilizing DJ202 turntables, songwriting, and beat making. Be part of changing the landscape of music education by joining us in Boston!
