The Arlington Public Schools is seeking an outstanding elementary music educator (0.9 FTE) for the Stratton Elementary School. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptionally strong skills as a music educator and musician. They will work collaboratively on a team of talented and dedicated school and Performing Arts Department faculty members, particularly at the elementary level. A strong background in the major elementary general music methodologies, singing, and elementary level repertoire and materials is essential. A working knowledge of or training in First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege is desired. The successful candidate will exhibit dynamic interpersonal skills to motivate and engage students, and maintain and enhance enthusiastic participation in music making in a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment. Responsibilities of the position include teaching general music classes for students in grades K-5, and chorus in grades 4 and 5.
Arlington is located in the immediate metropolitan Boston area within close proximity to internationally acclaimed arts and cultural institutions, and major universities. Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure in Music PK-12 is required.
At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
Bachelor degree (minimum)

The successful candidate will be hired as a teacher on the teacher's salary scale and will be a member of the Arlington Education Association, Unit A. The contractual start date is September 2, 2020. However, new teachers must attend several days of training and orientation at the end of August.
