Job Title Children's Program instructor/SingPositive choir
Description
Seeking part-time, flexible choir director and musical educator, to work with children (~70%) and conduct adults (~30%) of intergenerational choir in Jamaica Plain. Must be available for most rehearsals, Sundays from 3:30-6:30 pm, Sept. 10 - Dec. 3 and Jan. 21- May 6. Presence at dress rehearsals and shows is required (see schedule below). SingPositive (www.singpositive.org) is a family-friendly community musical group, formed in 2012, loosely based on the model of the Family Folk Chorale (Arlington). Last semester members were 37 adults, and 18 children. The group performs mainly house arrangements of world, rock, pop, & folk music– both with and without accompanying band. Repertoire is generally chosen collaboratively by the members and the conductors, with a focus on Social Justice songs. Duties will include working with both adults and children, sometimes separately, and sometimes together; ideally also working with the band (guitar, bass, keys, etc); opportunities for vocal recording work, arranging/scoring work also. Pay will vary depending on experience and duties undertaken, but starts at $100/rehearsal (weekly) + $25/meeting (every 2 weeks).
