Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12, on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy is currently seeking a part-time guitar instructor to pilot a Foundations of Guitar course for ninth grade students starting in September 2018. The number of sections will be determined upon enrollment, with the possibility of additional sections in the middle school. The course will introduce students to performing with the guitar, including basic technique, notation, chord symbols and ensemble skills. Emphasis will be placed on modern and classic pop songs. Candidates must be prepared to teach in small group settings and to prepare students for end of semester performances for the school community. Teacher certification is not required. Experience working with high school beginners and guitar ensembles is preferred. The ability to work in a diverse community is essential.
