The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has partnered with Arts|Learning to provide a second cohort of the Arts Mentoring Network. The network will support novice-level arts educators by establishing a community of peers and mentorship touchpoints throughout the school year. The Department is seeking mentors with a high level of subject matter knowledge, experience in best practices in arts teaching, and experience facilitating adult learners. Qualifications to become a mentor include:
Three years of practicum supervision experience, mentoring experience, or art coordinator experience;
Arts content knowledge in one or more of the five arts disciplines: music, visual arts, theatre, dance, or media arts; and
Experience implementing the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework and the DESE Classroom Teacher Rubric.
Find all the details about the arts mentoring network and how to apply here. The deadline for applications is Friday, September 15, or until the mentoring slots are filled.
Questions may be directed to Arts Mentoring Network Director Dr. Erin Zaffini at zaffini@artslearning.org.
The DESE contact for this network is Arts Content Support Lead Dawn Benski, dawn.m.benski@mass.gov.
