Julia Hayes

She/Her/Hers

Co-President

Julia is a student at Berklee College of Music studying Music Education with a minor in Psychology. She is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist from central Massachusetts. In addition to serving as Co-President on the MMEA Collegiate State Board, Julia is Co-President of Berklee’s NAfME collegiate chapter and is involved with the Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education. Julia is passionate about culturally responsive and accessible arts education for all ages and is so excited to become more involved with MMEA through the State Collegiate Board!

Nicholas LaCava

He/Him/His

Co-President

 

Nick is currently pursuing a Music Education and Performance degree in percussion from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He loves performing and exploring any and all music that heads his way. He is passionate about making an impact on music education and spreading his passion for music as far as he can reach. He cannot wait to create more opportunities for collegiate music educators through his connections with MMEA and the State Collegiate Board!

Robbie Lacey

Secretary 

Robbie is a student at UMass Amherst majoring in Music Education. A proud saxophonist from Brockton, he is deeply passionate about integrating the arts into classrooms. With a strong drive to enhance music education in schools, Robbie is thrilled to collaborate with the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) through the State Collegiate Board.

Jupiter Montalvo

Treasurer 

Jupiter is a student at Berklee College of Music majoring in music education. They are a vocalist and violinist from Worcester Massachusetts. They are passionate about giving all students the opportunity to learn  and play music no matter what! They have participated in MMEA conferences as a collegiate  and represented Massachusetts in the most recent music education advocacy summit in DC. Jupiter is excited to be on the board of the Collegiate NAfME state board and can not wait for the future.​​​​​​

Michelle Langelier

She/Her/Hers

Social Media & Graphics Coordinator

Michelle is an undergraduate Music Education student at Berklee College of Music, proficient in voice and electric bass. She is undeniably passionate about music education and its  significance and holistic power in youth. Michelle loves to create - she is the Social Media & Graphics Coordinator for Berklee’s CNAfME chapter, and is thrilled to take on the same role for Massachusetts’s State Collegiate Board!

Davon Fuentes

He/Him

Board Member

Davon is currently pursuing a Music Degree with a concentration in Education from UMass Dartmouth. He is a trumpet player and aspiring composer from Dartmouth, MA. Davon has a deep love for all things music and education, and spends a lot of his free time teaching at local highschool marching bands, or composing and furthering his knowledge. He has participated in MMEA All-State conferences as a collegiate, and recently represented Massachusetts in the most  recent Music Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC.

Dear Collegiate NAfME Folks and Advisors,

We are excited to announce an opportunity for you to become a Collegiate Ambassador for the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA). As an ambassador, you will be crucial in running our All-State concert and conference. This is an excellent opportunity to build connections with other collegiates and teachers and to gain practical experience for your resume.

Responsibilities of Collegiate Ambassadors:

​

  • Collegiate Ambassadors are required to be on-site at the Worcester DCU center on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, at 5 pm through Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, at 5 pm.

  • You will meet other collegiates and music professionals, attend professional development sessions, and assist as needed.

  • On Saturday, March 23rd, you'll decide if you want to stay in Worcester and help with the Treble chorus or travel to Boston and help with the high school All-State ensembles.

  • Conference fees and room and boarding are covered by MMEA for collegiates.

 

If you are passionate about music education and want to make a positive impact, we encourage you apply to be a Collegiate Ambassador by January 25th, 2024. After completing this form, your advisors will be contacted for a quick reference.
