JP Lanctot is the band director at Nissitissit Middle School and has been teaching music for 18 years. Prior to Nissitissit, JP spent 13 years in the Groton Dunstable regional school district where he taught middle school band, chorus, and general music.

A graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, JP received his degree in music education and trombone performance. He continued his studies at the University of Scranton, PA where he received a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

JP has served for 10 years on the MMEA Central District board and is the concert chair for the Central District Junior Festival.  JP also is a member of the Massachusetts Judges Association where he is an adjudicator for various Marching Band/Percussion competitions in the New England area.  He continues to play his instrument of trombone within the Indian Hill Music Big Band.
